Recipient of a July 2023 joint order from Germany and the Netherlands, for up to 3,058 vehicles, the Caracal is a specialist variant of the Model Series 464 Mercedes-Benz G-Class designed primarily for airborne and airmobile formations. Carl Schulze has been focussing on the vehicles displayed at the current edition of Eurosatory in Paris and as we know a high proportion of our readership are interested in 4×4 military utility vehicles we felt a brief ‘In Focus’ was warranted.

In addition to the Caracal daily demonstrating its off-road capability, powered by synthetic fuel, a second Caracal variant fitted with a quadruple bank of launchers for Hero-120 loitering munitions and a third version with racking in the rear cargo loadbed were static displayed on the Rheinmetall stand.
